Uppers and Downers: Getting Too High or Too Low

In slang, they're called uppers and downers, but they're really known as stimulants and depressants. People who take these drugs usually suffer from a lack of activity or over-activity in the central nervous system. Uppers and downers are usually prescribed to people with cases of mental ailments like schizophrenia and depression, just to name a few. Other instances when these drugs are recommended for use are in the cases of narcolepsy, insomnia, or anxiety.
